Jedes Jahr im Frühling kommen tausende von Zuschauern in die Säle und Festsäle in Bourges, um den Darbietungen bekannter Künstler oder neuer Talente beim Musikfestival Frühling in Bourges (Printemps de Bourges) zu lauschen.

Seit 1977 bietet das Festival jedes Jahr eine Woche lang Konzerte der verschiedensten Musikrichtungen an mehreren Orten in Bourges: 150 Solokünstler und Gruppen in den sieben Sälen des Festivals, aber auch zahlreiche Künstler auf den vier kostenlosen Bühnen, die zwischen dem Ufer des Auron und dem Platz Séraucourt aufgebaut sind. Auch in den annähernd zwanzig Bars in Bourges, die an dem Festival Frühling in Bourges teilnehmen, finden Konzerte statt. Auf diesen Off-Bühnen zeigen hunderte Straßenkünstler ihr musikalisches Talent.

Bourges gilt auch als Sprungbrett für junge Künstler und bietet neben dem Musikfest eine große Auswahl an bedeutenden Kulturveranstaltungen: Kino, Literatur und Zusammentreffen von Künstlern aus allen Kunstrichtungen.

Every spring, thousands of spectators come to the concert halls and marquees of Bourges to listen to the world’s most famous artists or discover young musical talent.

Since 1977 the festival has offered a week of concerts every year, in the most diverse musical genres, at several locations in Bourges: 150 artists and groups in the seven festival halls, as well as many artists on the four free stages, from the banks of Auron to Place Séraucourt, and as many more in the twenty or so bars in Bourges that play a part in the Spring Festival in the town.

Bourges is also a springboard for young artists, and a set of important cultural events: film, literature, and all kinds of gatherings.

Kunst- und Geschichtsstadt, Bourges verfügt über ein reiches architektonisches Erbe. Die Kathedrale Saint-Étienne, die im XIII. Jahrhundert erbaut wurde, ist im Welterbe der UNESCO geordnet. Diese Kathedrale gotischer Architektur stellt eine aussergewöhnliche Eigentümlichkeit vor, diejenige, kein Querschiff zu besitzen. Ihre alten Kirchenfenster sowie die Skulpturen ihres zentralen Portals sind ein zu betrachtendes Wunderwerk. In der Nähe bietet der Garten des Archevêché mit blühenden Blumengärten eine ruhige und erholsame Umgebung an, sowie einen fabelhaften Blick auf die Kathedrale Saint-Étienne.

Der Besuch von Bourges führt weiter mit dem berühmten Palast Jacques-Coeur, Gebäude des XV. Jahrhunderts im Stil Spätgotik. Der Spaziergang in der Altstadt ist sehr angenehm, mit seinen gepflasterten Gassen, gesäumt mit Fachwerkhäusern, seine gotischen Häuser und seine Renaissancehäuser, aber auch seine kleinen Plätze, geschmückt mit Kaffees und die Boutiquen seiner Fussgängerzonen.

Die Stadt ist bekannt für ihr berühmtes Musikfestival Le Printemps de Bourges, das im April stattfindet.

City of Art and History, Bourges has a rich architectural heritage. The Saint-Etienne cathedral built in the 13th century is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This cathedral of Gothic architecture is extremely unusual in that it does not possess a transept. Its ancient stained glass windows as well as the sculptures of its central portal are awe-inspiring. Nearby, the flower garden of the Archbishop's Palace is a quiet and peaceful place offering a magnificent view of the Saint-Etienne cathedral.

The visit of Bourges continues with the famous Jacques-Coeur palace, a 15th-century civil building of Flamboyant Gothic style. Strolling through the old town is very pleasant with its narrow paved streets lined with half-timbered houses, its Gothic and Renaissance hotels, as well as its small squares decorated with cafés and the shops in the pedestrian streets.

The city is renowned for its famous music festival that takes place in April, the “Printemps de Bourges”.
